WORKSHOP SERIES

The knowledge and skills you need to scaffold a body-positive home for your family — and yourself.

The rooms we’ll dive into…

Session 1: The foundations of a body-positive home

Do you know you want home to be a place that naturally boosts immunity to our appearance obsessed culture so your kids can have a better relationship with food and body than you did? Are you relying on generalized guidance from social media that leaves you with questions about how to actually apply it all to your unique child/family/circumstance? Do you struggle to get partners and extended family members on board with your cycle breaking efforts? Without a clear blueprint, building a body-positive home is a mere concept. We’ll talk foundational principles and translate them into mindsets, practical actions, and communication strategies that will set the stage for healthy body image development for your kids AND, if you’re interested, healing for yourself.

Session 2: Food, feeding and eating - part 1

No one prepares us for how hard it is to feed a family or how exactly to foster a healthy relationship with food for our kids — especially given the lack of resources our own slim fast drinking parents had! We’ll discuss the what, why, and how of creating a food neutral environment, and walk step-by-step through a clear feeding framework that will help you move forward with less stress and more strategy. We’ll emphasize how to leverage time with food and kids to foster body autonomy, adventurous eating skills, and decreased risk for disordered eating in young people (of all sizes and wiring).

Session 3: Food, feeding and eating - part 2

A body-positive family knows that one size never fits all. We’ll continue scaffolding your feeding system by covering tricky topics and common stuck points we face on the actual feeding frontline. How do I limit sweets without depriving my kid? How do I get my kids to eat their veggies? Will they ever stop eating just the bread and butter? Do I have to let my kid drink soda if I want them to have a positive relationship with food? How do I talk to my kid if I suspect secretive eating or “emotional eating”? We’ll cover all of these and more!

Session 4: Embodiment lessons from the bathroom

Did you know the bathroom is one of the most powerful places to prevent and heal body image injuries? As wacky as that sounds, we’ll explore how to leverage lessons from toileting, mirrors, bathroom scales, naked bodies, and so much more to boost positive embodiment and buffer against the messages of diet culture.

Session 5: Body image hacks and home healing

So many of us carry legacies of food and body shame — we know we don’t want to pass it on, but we also know we have unhealed wounds. If we want to raise kids who feel good inside their bodies and around food, we need to look at how we’re doing on that front. We’ll dive into the anatomy of body image and discuss ways you can incorporate life hack style healing into your every day life. You and your kids deserve to know the strategies and skills needed to navigate inevitable body changes across the lifespan.

This workshop series includes:

A comprehensive body-positive nurturing blueprint

Learn exactly how to attune to your unique child (and inner child!) and turn bath time, mealtime, dressing time, story time, and ordinary family time into body-positivity building time.

Healing strategies for you

No, this is not therapy… but I am a therapist and know that in every room there is a therapeutic experience waiting for you. I’ll help you find them all so you can make healing just another part of your everyday life.

Skills to deal with people who just “don’t get it”

Not everyone is working hard to build a more body-positive world (ie. well-meaning, body-shaming in-laws) but that doesn’t mean you can’t effectively communicate with them and protect your kids. I want you to feel empowered and prepared to speak with anyone in your life who is not yet on board with your body-positive values!

Scripts for tough questions

Am I fat? Why is my sister thinner than me? I hate my body! Mommy, why is your belly so jiggly? Why can I have more green beans, but not more ice cream? I want to lose weight.

I believe you can feel sturdy and empowered when these questions come your way — I’ll show you how.

Your unique questions answered

Yes, you can access generalized information and guidance on social media… but nothing is ever one size fits all. I want to get to know your specific dilemmas and stuck points so we can find then “just right” approaches to support your unique body-positive nurturing journey.
